Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination based on sex (including sexual
harassment, sexual violence, and gender-based harassment) in education programs and activities that receive
federal financial assistance. Some key issue areas with regards to Title IX obligations include: employment,
single-sex education, recruitment, counseling, admissions, financial assistance, sex-based harassment,
discipline, treatment of pregnant and parenting students, and athletics.
Perquimans County School System does not discriminate on the basis of sex and prohibits sex
discrimination in any education program or activity that it operates, as required by Title IX and its
regulations, including in admission and employment.
Inquiries about Title IX may be referred to Perquimans County Schools’ Title IX Coordinator, the
U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, or both. To report information about conduct
that may constitute sex discrimination or make a complaint of sex discrimination under Title IX, please
refer to our Title IX Policy (which may be found under Board Policy Manual) and contact our Title IX
Coordinator.
